Dr. Horrible Goes To The Dogs

November 7, 2014 //  by Pamela

I’m a freaky, anti-tech Luddite.

I don’t have a cell phone, tablet, or even a television (and they’ve been around for 70 years).

But I LOOOOOOOOOOVE the internet.

Why?

Honey the golden retriever is an easy dog.
I’ve almost learned all the words to Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Dog.

Because, at least for now, it’s a relatively cheap place for creative people to share their works with the world.

And my latest favorite creative person online is SplashKittyArtist.

All Movies Are Better With Dogs

I love all kinds of films. But I think most movies would be better with dogs.

And SplashKittyArtist found her way into my heart by animating Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Dogs.

She’s a genius. Take a look.

Yes, that is an animated Neil Patrick Harris and Felicia Day. As puppies! Squeeeeeeeeeeee!

If you’re not familiar with Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog, check it out on Netflix. Or just see the musical number that inspired the animation here.

Fun, right?

Now I want to start searching for all the other movies people have remade with dogs. Anyone for Citizen Canine?

Your Turn: Do you have a favorite online creative spirit you’d like to recommend?

While what you posted isn’t my cup of tea, I do like Patrick Neil Harris. The internet is a great place for a lot of creative people to get discovered. I like Yasmine’s cat comics at http://www.catversushuman.com/. She captures the cat experience quite well. (Was that naughty to post about a cat blog on a dog blog?)

We are always behind on getting technology. I didn’t have a cell phone for years until my work sort of guilted me into it. And it really is a good safety item to have. But I don’t have a snazzy iPhone or similar, so I can’t check email, which still irks my office 🙂

You Go Girl!!! Let the office folks stew! I was the same way!! Long before cellphones — just shortly after those clunky car phones came out — my boss wanted all of us to get one. We all put our feet down and said “NO WAY!!” What he wanted was control of our lives, and we absolutely refused. Finally, when he wouldn’t stop harassing us, one of the guys went to the CEO and complained. It was never mentioned again.

I used to work for the Presbyterian Church. When they had their big governing conference, they’d give staff beepers so they could wake us up in the middle of the night to come in and type resolutions for the delegates.

Nowadays, it’s probably even worse with cell phones. They probably call all night with questions before finally insisting you dress and return to the office to type.

Glad you and your office mates stood up for yourselves. I wish I had known you back when I was working for the church. 🙂

Cat Versus Humans is wonderful! I love it.

And Something Wagging is a kitty friendly blog. Feel free to share any kitty kreativity you’d like.

BTW, I know that a cell phone is in my future. But yeah, I’m not in a big hurry to adopt any device that allows me to work more. Keep sticking it to the Man, Taryn. 🙂

That was awesome! Dr. Horrible. Plus dogs. Why I love the interwebs.

I know! If I were rich, I’d pay the the artist to recreate Dr. Horrible entirely with dogs. And Commentary The Musical! 🙂

OMG! No television?? Sam would go berserk!! God Forbid he shouldn’t be able to watch his freakin football, basketball, and baseball!!! And let’s not forget the news! As far as I’m concerned, the only thing TV is good for is watching movies, and an occasional history program.

Nowadays, there’s plenty of interesting things to watch on the web. But sports are an issue.

I “watched” the Orioles in the playoffs at MLB.com. They gave play by play written commentary. I kinda like it because there wasn’t all the insipid chatter.

I don’t miss TV at all. We just watch DVDs. Right now we are in the middle of the series, “All creatures great and small”

I adore James Herriot. But even more than the show, I love hearing the books on tape.

I LOVE Dr. Horrible, so Dr. Horrible w/ dogs – love it.

Speaking of dogs you can watch on the Internet… have you seen the “real animals and fake paws” Supreme Court? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ9prhPV2PI

I have and I love the idea behind it of getting more people to pay attention to Supreme Court debates.

In truth, I’ve never been a big fan of dog heads with people hands. But I think John Oliver is onto something. Perhaps we need cute dogs and cats to inform our citizens and strengthen our democracy. 🙂

That songs quite catchy, I think I’m going to be humming it all day, although I have no idea what the film is, not even heard about it!! But now, if you’ll excuse me I see there is a video of Patrick Neil Harris and Hugh Jackman dueting and you know I have to watch that!!
