It’s hot and humid. Temperatures inside the boat get up to about 95Β° F (35Β° C).

But the other day we saw this.

Yep, when the rain started the temperatures dropped.
I might not have noticed except my dog-mometer told me.
Psssst! In that top picture, Honey is fast asleep. Yes, she sleeps with her eyes open. Creepy, isn’t it?
Your Turn: Can you tell the temperature just by looking at your dog?

5 Reasons Everyone Needs Pro Pictures Of Their Dogs
Yes, I sprawl like Honey in the top picture when it’s warm. I never curl up like a cat though, even when it’s cold!
Maybe Honey has a touch of Pyr in her – we often have our eyes partly open when asleep, as it’s important not to miss anything.
If Honey sleeping with her eyes open makes her similar to a Pyr, it’s the only thing. If she were guarding sheep, she’d pick up a lamb and bring it to the first stranger who said something nice to her. π
Absolutely. it’s been in the 90’s hear, and Torrey is not a happy girl. Thank fully we have an AC we can run that helps. We also have a small fan that runs on electric, or batteries. I put it on the floor and Torrey lies in front of it. We call it her boyfriend.
Ha ha! I love that Torrey has a cool boyfriend.
We wonder if our fans are putting out as much air as they could. They catch dog hair like it’s going out of style.
Pretty much most days. Dogs are better judges of the weather than weather forecasters. Enjoy those cool breezes. It’s still hot here with no rain in sight. Is it autumn yet? LOL
OMD, don’t rush me into fall. I just want some nice days in the mid 80s with not too much humidity. π
Yes, it is kind of creepy when the dogs sleep with their eyes open; but I’ve gotten used to it over the years. Callie used to sleep in that exact same position…but only during the day. At night, she would curl up next to me or Shadow and be perfectly content all night. β€οΈβ€οΈ??
I have not yet gotten used to dogs sleeping with their eyes open. I keep trying to talk to Honey just to realize she doesn’t hear a thing. π
Yes.
It must be nice to have built in heating and cooling agents in our bodies.
Well, dogs are more highly evolved. π
Hahahahaha – when B sleeps with her eyes open I say “Hey! I told you about that – close your eyes when you sleep, you’re creeping me out!” And then she’ll open her eyes wide and then shut them. Mission accomplished.
So Blueberry actually hears you? I try talking to Honey thinking she’s awake and discover she is lost to the living.
Tallulah likes to sleep spread eagle on her back too . . . except not with the open eyes. Yep, that is creepy. Tallulah is pretty much always hot. I’m the cool girl in our family. π Happy Wordless Wednesday!
Honey doesn’t do it very often. That’s when I realized just how hot it was.
If you have any lessons in how to be a cool pup, I’d love to get some tutoring from you. π
Yep! cooler weather…the collies sleep as close to me and each other as possible.
Warmer weather, they need their space.
Except for Sophie, she just can’t get close enough to me, no matter what the temp is! lol
Honey is like Sophie. She sleeps plastered right against me no matter what the temp.
How do you even sleep at night?! Egads! I remember those long ago days on the bay. Below deck would be SO hot! We would use a wind scoop through the forward hatch that helped a little but not enough. When it got too bad, we would move to the cockpit cushions.
I do much better at anchor than I do on a dock. There’s almost always some kind of breeze.
The real key is to not work too hard. π
We would say, January snowstorm!
I know! Looks like it, eh? But it was only about 75 degrees. I guess the shock of being under 90 degrees gave Honey a chill.
When it’s hot Harley will roll over on his back in a minute and air out “his junk”
Someone in a sailing group in FB just posted a selfie of a fan blowing up the leg of his shorts. Apparently Harley isn’t the only one who likes to keep good circulation. π
Sleeps with her eyes open?? That is a little creepy. It’s rarely super hot or super cold here, but, yeah, that nose tucked under the tail sign is a sure indicator it’s too chilly!
It’s like living with a furry little horror movie. π
If I open the door to let them out and they stop just at the threshold, its either to hot or its raining. LOL Hope the night brings some cooler air for you! I think we almost hit 100 today. UGH!
Ha ha! Now that would be too frustrating. Do they make you hold an umbrella or fan over them if conditions are not optimal?
If Cricket is found lying on the tile or wood floors, instead of on her bed or the couch, we know it’s hot out.
Sheba used to sleep with her eyes open sometimes too, it’s very disconcerting when you don’t know if they’re really asleep or not!
When Sampson is hot, he’s panting. That’s the only way I know. π
