What can you say about someone you don’t know well and have only recently met?
A lot. If you listen and pay attention.
Things I know about Carol Bryant
When I sat down and started thinking, I realized I knew quite a bit about Carol, both from visiting her website, Fidose of Reality, and from emails we’ve exchanged.
Here’s the short list:
Carol is clever with words. Of course she is. Just look at what she called her website. Don’t you just love it?
I find the name particularly meaningful because I have a strong memory of confused thoughts where my dogs helped to ground me again. I’ve experienced a powerful Fidose of Reality in my life.
Yes, Carol. Yes.
Carol brings quantity and quality
Fidose of Reality is a magazine site. Its challenge is to give enough content to fill out the site and make it worth revisiting.
Many sites (I won’t name names) struggle with this.
But Carol continues to publish helpful articles on a range of subjects important to animal people.
- Preventing your pet from going missing. And the one gap in her piece was filled by her first commenter. Writing is always a community effort.
- Can a simple saliva test (Nutriscan) help you discover food allergies? This was entirely new to me and I look forward to reading her follow-up to know if the information she got helped solve her pup’s itchy feet.
- Tips for taking your dog on a road trip to Alaska. A guest post that shared important information disguised in humor. It’s more fun to know that belly rubs at the border cost $30 than to know that Canadian officials charge for the visual exam and paper check when your dog crosses the border.
Carol is thoughtful
Earlier this year, Carol wrote a piece for Dogster called, “Dogs are the new Kids: Trite for Some, But True for Me.”
She wrote asking permission to quote from my post, Is a Dog as Good as a Child? People have republished entire posts without letting me know. Carol had every right to quote my post. But it’s always nice to be asked.
Carol is a pet parent
Dogs are the New Kids said it all. Go read it now. Over 100 comments lets you know it struck a chord.
But there are parents and then there are parents. What kind of pet parent is Carol?
Carol is smitten with Dexter
While I was snooping around Fidose of Reality, I came across this adorable video.
Of course Dexter is gorgeous. And what’s not to love about a cute pup battling seaweed?
But my favorite part is hearing the joy of a woman who really loves her dog.
After all, you can be a social media diva but there’s nothing more charming than someone who really loves a dog.
Share some love. Do you read Fidose of Reality? If so, what do you like most?

Funny how much we all know about other bloggers without really knowing them!
I concur. Get to know someone indeed. Pamela has a lot of character!
Loved this! I know Carol through BlogPaws and she is everything you listed and soooo much more! She is a human dynamo! She is brilliant, caring, supportive, a HUGE DOG (Dexter lover) and as beautiful inside as she is outside. The woman accomplishes more in 5 minutes than most of us do in a year!
I simply ADORE HER!
Awww this is so kind and what a sweet idea to do this, Pamela. I have been a fan of yours for a long time. I really want to thank you for being so introspective, thought-provoking and for having character.
BTW, Caren Gittleman, you are someone I adore, so the mutual love society is in full force tonight.
My heart has been beating dog since I can remember and being able to articulate myself into some sort of semblance of opinion merged with fact aka blogging is well, a dream come true. To form a career in the name of dogs, well, an honor.
TY, truly.
I do read Fidose of reality, and enjoy it very much. Thanks for spotlighting her, so everyone can enjoy her blog.
Pooches gracias!
i know carol through her website’s and dogster’s writings. her writing is reflective, thought provoking, informative, humorous, and most importantly, different. she keeps going when others do not. long after i’ve finished reading her works on fidose of reality and dogster, her writings continue to keep me thinking.
carol bryant is a dog’s best advocate. it’s because of her compassion and contributions that many dogs have found homes. her endless energy shines through in all she does. she gets it. carol’s work penetrates the hearts and minds of its readers. she really gets it! she is one of the brightest stars in the dog world. yes, she really, really gets it!!!
Nicely put, Ellen. Thank you for stopping by to share the love. I know Carol will appreciate hearing from an appreciative fan. 🙂
WOW, Ellen, you are very kind and this made my day. I know you’ve commented on my blog before, so knowing my words help you makes all the difference in the world to me. Happy Holidays!
Dexter is indeed a very attractive dog and if he is Carol’s motivation for her website than I am sure it is well worth a visit! I have heard of it before but unfortunately have not made the time to read any of her articles. It sounds like I have missed out on quite a bit!
Woof! Woof! We know Carol’s writing through BlogPaws and Wordless Wednesday. We just recently follow her blog as we reorganized our blog readers. We love her writings. Mom wishes she can write like her. We wished we join your Gift Exchange (next year). Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
I love writing and dogs, so what a great compliment to me. Sugar, I am thrilled to know you through the blog hop and look forward to getting to know you better. Pamela has really embraced what the holidays are with her pet blogger gift exchange.
Kristin, my muse was the first dog I ever had enter my life and now my Dexter is my heartbeat that carries the torch. Thanks so much!
We love Carol at BlogPaws! I especially appreciate the care and attention she gives to the written word. Over on my blog, Scratchings and Sniffings, I often share Carol’s great content (with proper links back, of course!) because she really takes the time to dig out the best topics, then she writes with clarity, while providing entertainment that often makes you laugh out loud. Very much like you, Pamela. You are both A+ in my book!
Someone needs to pinch me. My role model, Yvonne, I am speechless. And grateful.
This is an awesome post Pamela, I will definitely be checking out Carol’s blog, she sounds like someone who loves her dogs as much as I do. There are so many times I find myself laughing at my dogs or just smiling at something they do.
Of course, you know how crazy I am about them. 🙂
Nice to cyber meet you, Jodi!
Having know Carol since 1995, I can honestly say that she is all of the above…and so much more! Thank you Carol, for being in my life!
Love you, Arlene. Stellar writer that you are… xoxo
Yes, I read Fidose of Reality! And I know Carol because she graciously reviewed my book for me and we have corresponded a time or two since then. She is my total blogger crush! She rocks!
OMD Jackie, thud city. Total blogger crush. Awwww. Dammit you ladies rock. I mean it.
Hi there, just popped over to say congratulations on your spot in the Heart Like a Dog calendar. Well done!
Wow, Pamela. You really have come up with the Best Gift Of All. What a lovely post about a great blog. Mom works with Carol at BlogPaws and I know that she’s all dog from the inside out. Wait. That didn’t come out right. ; )
What I mean is that she’s got dogs in her heart. She’s got a dog heart. No, hold on… Carol LOVES dogs and that’s a huge part of her life. Her love for dogs pours out of every word on every page of her blog, which is professional yet personal, and fun yet educational.
She puts her money where her mouth is and her mouth is on a dog. Wait…
Love her.
Cokie the Cat
