The Puppiness Project – Celebrate!

December 13, 2010 //  by Pamela

Gretchen Rubin wrote in The Happiness Project about the year she spent “test-driving the wisdom of the ages, the current scientific studies, and the lessons from popular culture about how to be happy.” The Puppiness Project is my attempt to learn the same from Honey, my Golden Retriever.

Golden Retriever with Stick
I found a stick! I found a stick!

Have you ever accomplished something you had been working on a long time? Did you stop to celebrate and enjoy yourself? Or did you cross it off your list and just go on to the next thing?

Honey never just crosses anything off her list without a big hoopla. (Ok, I know she can’t write; but still.)

Everything is cause for celebration. “I got all the kibble out of my food toy. Hooray!” “Oooh, I have the ratty old toy that everyone else seems to want. Yay!” And “hey, I have a stick. Woohoo!”

I’m going to try to channel the spirit of Honey in this busy season. “Hey, I found a great gift for my sister. Yippee!” “Look, we got cookies baked. Wahoo!” And “I helped four more people close loans to repair their homes this week. Way to go!”

I’d write a little more about this, but I have to go celebrate. “I just moved my picture and caption around in HTML mode without screwing up the whole post. Yabba Dabba Doo!”

I just made a deposit for work at the bank! Yay!

LOL. That last celebration you mentioned made me laugh out loud. The courier just gave me a weird look. But I have yet to be able to accomplish that. So Cowabunga for you!

I think I need to channel the same spirit! We have TWO family Christmas parties that we have to go to this weekend! Yeehaw!

Doing anything with HTML and not screwing everything up is always a reason to celebrate! BOL But really I like the idea. I think I’ll try to incorperate into my life a little more. And there is nothing better to celebrate than getting the treat out your food toy.

Thanks for sharing Honey’s enthusiasm for life as well as your own! Hope your sister enjoys that gift.
