You’ve heard of first world problems. But your true suffering comes from Dog World Problems.
Best City for Pet Travelers
Gasp! Cape May, New Jersey is behind New Smyrna Beach, Florida in the voting for Best City for Pet Travelers over at Go Pet Friendly.
I guess my warnings from yesterday didn’t convince you to vote against the town that sounds like a noise you make while blowing your nose.
So let me show you what you’re missing in lovely, pet-friendly Cape May:

Horseshoe crabs bring migrating birds by the millions, making Cape May one of the most important migratory bird stops in the world.
If you’re convinced that Cape May is an awesome place to travel with your pet, go vote now. You can only vote once per round in as many brackets as you wish. Cape May is 9th up from the bottom.
And if you decide to visit New Smyrna Beach anyway (traitor!), don’t toss a stick in the water for your dog to chase. If you do, you’ll be sorry.
Your Turn: Honey enjoys playing mini golf with us. What’s the strangest activity you’ve ever done with your dog?

You had me at dog-friendly… that and the dolphins!
Looks like fun!
OK, I voted…..I grew up in South Jersey…not a fan of any of the beaches. They have the audacity to charge you to go on the beaches! Plus the water is too cold!
Strangest activity we do with our dogs is jetskiing. When they see us getting the gear ready, they go sit by the car so they aren’t forgotten 😉
After living in Philly for years, the best thing about the Jersey beaches was that I could get there in an hour or so. Can’t say that about the Virgin Islands. 🙂
BTW, do you have any photographic evidence of the dogs jetskiing?
Since we always think safety first, I don’t have any great pictures of the boys jetskiing…it requires both of us to be on the jetski, making sure the footing stays safe.
But if you go to this old post: http://cardiganshirecorgis.blogspot.com/2009/06/another-day-on-water.html
you can get the idea 🙂
Taryn–thank you so much! You just made my morning. Every gloomy day should begin with pictures of corgis on jet skis.
We get a lot of comments when we kayak with Honey. I can only begin to imagine the attention you get when the dogs go by on your jet ski. Let’s hope spring comes soon so the boys can get back to the water.
We love Cape May! It is such a beautiful place to visit! So we’re heading off to vote!
Thanks so much, Maggie. Glad to find another fan of such a pretty town.
I’ve never been to either but based on your pictures I’m definitely voting for Cape May! You should be the town’s mascot! 😀
From your mouth to the Cape May tourism bureau’s ears. 🙂 Honey would love to be their mascot.
Don’t swallow the golf ball Honey!
What a pretty place! And even better, it’s pet-friendly.
And best of all, from my opinion, not Sage’s, it’s mud-free. 🙂
Voted! I’m not a big fan of Florida, mostly because it’s just NOT dog friendly.
And yet there are tons of Florida cities entered in the brackets. If Cape May moves on, we’ll be competing against Key West, Florida. I assume I can count on your support? 🙂
And what’s not pet-friendly about a state swarming with alligators?
Cape May IS awesome! I have a feeling your town has a better shot than mine does yet again. *sigh*
I’d say any place that gets snow in the winter would have a tough time going up against Sanibel Island, Florida. 🙂
But you still have time to rally your many fans–perhaps by posting one of your lovely photos on FB tonight.
