I absolutely love these programs! The people and dogs that the rest of society has turned their back on (for the most part) come together and make such a dramatic difference to each other. It’s just so beautiful!

I LOVE dog-inmate programs. Gosh how I wish they could do this everywhere. I saw a crate in that one man’s cell–are the dogs actually staying with the prisoners? What a great way to ease space pressures in the shelter and offer therapeutic companionship to dogs and inmates. Wow.

There was a TV program recently about prisoners in Australia training dogs to work with disabled people. It was fascinating, and it was clear it was beneficial to both the dogs and the inmates.

Here we also have a horse program where ex race horses are looked after by inmates for pretty much the same reason. Very successful it is too. Have a fabulous Friday.

I’m always amazed by these prison/dog programs. It is just such a win-win all around.
