Good luck to us finding diverse political opinions this day and age! Exhibit A: the current presidential election campaign. That said, enjoyed your take on the whole cultural phenomena and how that develops. Great job! :)

I love this post so much! I actually want to move because my neighborhood is not a good dog culture. Nobody picks up the poop and all the dogs are seriously scary. :( I've been trying to educate the owners who will listen but so many people are not interested in learning. It really sucks sometimes!

You are always very wise. It is hard to share concerns with people and have a meaningful discussion while their off-leash dog is attempting to mount mine or causing turmoil in other ways. When people do the considerate thing and actually re-leash their dog when they see us approaching, I do always thank them profusely - from far away, however, out of necessity. It's a tricky thing. Usually my method is just to get out of the area as soon as possible. But you are very right, yelling and criticizing does not help at all. Neither does a "helpful" reminder of the laws. Most people just act like I am nuts and ignore my concerns.

Sigh. This would all be so much less stressful if I was less socially awkward.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom! It will likely come as no surprise to you that I live in the most left-wing neighbourhood in the city, likely in the province. It makes for a lovely atmosphere in some ways, less in others. ;-)

We need to be close to our sports classes, and in an area with tons of places for long walks. We are not real picky, but no cities or rural. We like suburbia. I saw the final four, good luck!
