The Something Wagging crew is pretty minimalist. If it’s going to join us on the boat, it has to be useful, a good value, and well made.
Here are a few cool things every (adventure) dog needs.
Solvit Telescoping Ramp
How do you get your dog into a high car, RV, or even a boat?
We use a Solvit Telescoping Extra Large Dog Ramp to help Honey walk easily from the boat to the dock and back again safely.
No more worries about a missed leap or getting caught between a moving dock and boat.

Spill-Proof Buddy Bowl
How do you keep water from spilling every where when you’re sailing?
We use The Orginal Buddy Bowl. There’s a protective cover with a hole where you dog can lap up water. But even turning it upside down (something I hope never happens to our sailboat) doesn’t spill a drop.

Kurgo Wander Hammock
We haven’t owned a car since 2011.
But that doesn’t mean we never need a car. We just rent one every so often.
Have you rented a car lately? Rental statements now threaten huge fines for cars turned in covered in pet hair.
Doesn’t sound like a good situation for someone with a golden retriever, does it?
Luckily we have a Kurgo car seat cover to make clean up much easier.
The Kurgo Wander Hammock has saved our bacon every time we’ve had to rent a car.

Kurgo Collaps-a-Bowl
It’s such a tiny thing. And yet it’s so useful.
We carry Honey’s Kurgo Collaps-a-Bowl everywhere we go. It’s easy to clean and compact enough to fit in my purse with a small water bottle.
I don’t know why everyone doesn’t have one.
Ruffwear DoubleBack Harness
To get Honey in and out of the dinghy (and even off the boat when we’re on the hard) we use a block and tackle.
I wouldn’t want to trust even the sturdiest life jacket to the task. We use the Ruffwear Double Back mountaineering harness to keep Honey safe.
Amazingly, she feels more secure in her harness than if we just passed her into the dinghy by hand. And I feel more secure too.

Kurgo Surf ‘N Turf Life Jacket
We wear life jackets when we go boating. Why shouldn’t Honey?
I’ve come up with 10 Reasons Every Dog Needs a Life Jacket and a smart commenter added one more.
Does your dog need one? Probably.
Picking a dog life jacket is tough. You might need to try a few before you find the perfect one.
But we’ve found the Kurgo Surf ‘n Turf is a great fit for Honey.
Flush Doggy Flushable Poop Bags
We thought we’d be giving up flushable poop bags when we sold our house. After all, they aren’t made to work with a marine head.
But using them while staying as my sister’s house has made us much less stinky visitors.
We loved them in our own house. We love them at my sister’s house.
Too bad they’re not made to work with septic systems.
But they work like a charm if you have municipal sewer service.

Chewy.com
A dog food delivery service is a car-free person’s best friend.
Now that we live full time on our sailboat, we rely in Chewy’s excellent delivery and customer service to get Honey’s food delivered to us. We’ve never had a problem with an order—not even when we ordered from a marina with no address.
Chewy is Honey’s favorite company.
