Tue Cute Tuesday – Petfinder is a Great Source of Adoptable Cuteness

For fifteen years, Petfinder has been making matches between pets who need homes and people who need pets.

To celebrate, they’ve asked people everywhere to spread the word about pet adoption today.

Adopt the Internet on PetfinderAt the Petfinder site, you can find the Adopt the Internet All-Stars, pets determined to be most adoptable by their shelters and rescue.

Meet Odin, the purebred German Shepherd who gets along well with adults, kids, cats, and horses  (wow!).

Or how about eager-to-please Riley, a Treeing Walker Coonhound looking for a jogging buddy?

Of course, not every dog or cat is going to be easy to place. Some are old, or sick, or need a special kind of home to thrive. So don’t just limit yourself to an All-Star. Maybe you need a dog who is just an all-star to you.

I’d like to give a shout out to Bobby at my local SPCA.

Bobby at the Tompkins County SPCA a pit bull terrier mix waiting to be adoptedHow can you resist that face? Bobby would be happiest in a home without kids or other dogs. But when he’s happy, he’s really happy. His friends at the SPCA report his tail reaches “whippingly-fast speeds when he’s wiggling and waggling.” Now that would be an ego boost to come home to.

So look beyond the all-stars. Your perfect match is waiting for you.

And if you want to spread the good news, link up here.

    • Ok, Dawn, I approved another comment promoting aKeKee but many people consider blatant self-promotion in blog comments to be rude. I’d hate to see a perfectly fine search engine piss folks off so this is the last time I’m approving one of your links.

  3. I just had to find out what a Treeing Walker Coonhound is! I wonder how it got its name. I hope you all have great success with this special day, and that lots of doggies and kitties find homes from the extra publicity :)

    • I’ll have to do some research on that name. The “treeing” and “coonhound” art are self-explanatory (I guess you don’t have raccoons in Australia) but who the heck was Walker?

  4. Bobby is so cute. I love the wiggly ones the best. So hard to resist. I have been so excited for today since I read about it. I really hope it makes a big difference.

    • Over 300 people participated in the blog hop. I hope Petfinder does a follow up on their site about the impact this campaign has had.

If you want to keep it going, AJ over at PupLove.ca is hoping to host a weekly Wednesday hop promoting rescue dogs. You can check out her site at http://puplove.ca/?p=302.

  5. Great post! And, Bobby is adorable!

    • Thanks, Michelle. I loved your emphasis on other pets over at Petfinder. You’re right that there are lots of adorable rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and birds also waiting for adoptive homes.

  6. Great post! Yay for Petfinder… I’m enjoying reading all of these great posts today. :)
