The Can-You-Help-Us-Clean-Up Life Jacket Giveaway

When your home has less than 250 square feet of living space, you can’t afford to keep stuff you don’t use.

Can you help us clean up the boat?

Does your dog need a life jacket?

I always wear my life jacket when we’re underway. It helps me rest easy knowing I’m just a bit safer. (Note: all the pictures below are of the life jacket we’re giving away.)

Old Life Jacket Needs New Home

We’ve lived on the boat for over six months now. Time to be ruthless and get rid of things we can’t use.

One of those things is Honey’s old life jacket that she inherited from our dog Shadow.

My dog rides in a canoe.

It no longer fits Honey. And because it was made by Ruffwear, it still looks practically new. This jacket is perfect for kayaking or canoeing.

Honey the Golden Retriever is all grown up.

I’m an only dog. Who would have thought I’d get hand me downs.

A quality life jacket costs $70 and up. And this one, although used, is in such good shape I suspect one of our online friends might be happy to have it.

Could your dog use a life jacket? I think most dogs can.

And would this particular life jacket fit yours?

Life Jacket Fitting

We’re giving away a red life jacket. It is an earlier version (about 8 years old) of the Ruffwear K9 Float Coat. The size is small.

Honey and Shadow were around 40 pounds when they wore this jacket.

Our life jacket has less flotation under the neck than the current Ruffwear Float Coat. That means it is less likely to hold your dog’s head out of the water. But it’s still excellent for adding extra flotation and safety.

The full jacket spread out.

It is light weight and comfortable and has a sturdy handle on the back if you need to fish your pup out of the drink.

You’ll find the exact measurements for the small size coat at the Ruffwear site.

So measure your dog. And if you think the jacket will fit, enter a comment below telling me you’d like it.

If there is more than one person who wants the jacket, I’ll pick a random entry tomorrow morning, Friday April 15.

Sorry, U.S. entries only due to postage costs.

A link below is an affiliate link. If you buy something after clicking it, I may earn a few cents but your item won’t cost you more. Thank you for supporting Something Wagging.

And if your dog is too big or too small for this jacket, you can buy your own K9 Float Coat. Summer is coming and  you want it to be a safe one, right?

Oh, and thanks for helping us clean up the boat. Good luck!

Don’t miss out not fun because you don’t have a life jacket.

  1. I really want to take Ty kayaking, but he’s outgrown his old life vest, too! I think this one might fit him perfectly. Fingers and paws crossed!

  2. That’s very kind of you to give away the life jacket. Richie says he’s way too small and he wouldn’t be caught dead anywhere near water anyway, so he doesn’t need a life jacket. I hope Amy gets it! 🙂

  3. Cool beans…way to go regarding the cleanup and giveaway! While this nice vest is too small for Sam, I hope the lucky recipient gets loads of use out of your generosity. 🙂

  4. That’s so sweet of you to just give it away! It’s actually the perfect size for Harper, and we spend quite a bit of time in the summer on kayaks. Fingers crossed!

  5. Wish I could do this with my pup, so adorable! Love the pictures, thanks for the post.

  6. I wish it was a large!! I need one for Dante and we love Ziva’s ruffwear lifejacket! 🙂

I have 3 dogs and this would definitely fit two of them. My dogs love to kayak, ride along on the boat, or jump in the pool at doggy play dates. They are aging and can not swim very well so a lifejacket would be so helpfu! Thank you for the chance to win & good luck to all!

  8. Nice, but we don’t really need one. Sadly we are not out on the water, just occasional swimming.

  9. Melissa Hinch says:

Baby would love a chance to win your life jacket! (Honey smells would be an added bonus to any store bought life jacket!) We love to play on the river, and I scuba dive occasionally in the summer and it would be nice for Baby to be able to come along in the boat safely.

Thanks for sharing! Whoever wins is a lucky pup. : )

  10. Kathy DeCaprio says:

I take my dog to the local lakes and use a row boat. I would feel more comfortable if my boy had a jacket to keep him safe

  11. The only time we would need it would be when you dock in Charleston – so Harley could feel safe coming aboard the boat!

  12. My black lab puppy was just born a few days ago. I was hoping to get him a life vest just like this for when he is around 6 months to start learning to swim on the lake. We want him to be a family pet that can come on our fishing and camping trips with us and enjoy the water with us.
