Something Wagging This Way Comes
An Amateur's Musings on Dogs and Their People
Let’s ask Honey.
The best dog bed is the one you dig yourself.
Your Turn: Where is your dog’s favorite bed?
It’s Wordless Wednesday!
It makes perfect sense! Beau’s favorite bed is on me, and Gonzo’s favorite bed is anywhere Beau is not. (Annoying little brothers).
Honey, unfortunately, bring her first favorite bed (a sand pile) into her second favorite bed (our v-berth). I’m getting tired of washing sand out of the sheets.
Maybe Gonzo could give her a lesson in sleeping independently? 🙂
Honey does look comfortable.
My favourite bed is the floor, preferably blocking a door!
Well, you are a guard dog. It only makes sense.
My sisters sleep with Mom at night, I wander from bed to bed all night. During the day, we all argue over the Molly Mutt Bed in the Solvit Wicker Crate. We all love to sleep in there! I love the beach, but don’t ever remember sleeping there.
Are you an insomniac Emma?
Sandy, but a perfect fit.
I don’t know how she does it, but first Honey digs a spot for Mike’s feet. Then she digs a spot for her butt. She always gets the perfect size.
Looks like Honey’s bed is always the pawfect dimensions! My own two are most happy if they can sleep next or on top of me. 😄
Honey likes to do that too. But somehow bringing sand onto the sheets first makes it even better. 🙂
Me and mine
They are very discerning dogs.
Anywhere we can be underfoot, we find is the best spot to nap!
Since we live on a boat that is only 34 feet long (the living area is considerably less) and 10 feet wide, Honey is always underfoot.
You two would love it!
Honey, you look so content! This time of year, when the sun is finally starting to get warm, they like it right out on the deck in the sunshine.
I bet Cricket, especially, loves the sun. I haven’t met a beagle yet who doesn’t love a good sun spot.
But what Honey likes even more than digging her favorite bed is carrying it back from the beach in paws and fur to track onto the boat, across the cabin sole, up onto the settees, and into the V-berth where we get to sleep in it too.
It’s so nice of Honey to share. 🙂
Oooh the sand… that’s a good one! My cats are fans of the laundry basket when it has clean clothes in it!
Yep, I couldn’t imagine kitties wanting to sleep in the sand. Too much like a litter box, I’d assume. 🙂
Yes, I think a sandy beach really is a great dog bed. 🙂 I’m in!
And on a hot day, it’s really cool on the belly. 🙂
haha. Yes, Rita agrees. Rita’s favorite bed is a “custom” one she made herself. (My never-destroys-anything girl scratched up a twin size memory foam topper I’d had stashed under the spare bed – drug it out to vacuum under there, and forgot to put it back before she did her custom work. Threw a duvet cover over it and it’s her favorite bed!)
Way to repurpose. 🙂
Max loves to dig himself a bed in the kid’s sandbox. Second to that it’s Mommy and Daddy’s bed (with a little sand brought in from outside)
Max sounds like Honey’s brother from another mother. 🙂
Hello friend – I love the new site! Water! So you 🙂 So you’re sailing to BP? Fantastic. Right now the Boys favorite bed happens to be mine 🙂 It all started about 6 months ago, can’t get them out LOL
You’ve officially lost the battle for the bed.
Honey slept in a crate in our bedroom since puppyhood. But when we were selling the house, we put the crate in the attic so things looked pretty for showings. And Honey has been on our bed ever since.
Hope to see you at BlogPaws? We’ve had to miss Charleston on our travel through last time because of storm damage to the municipal marina. We may find ourselves passing by again because of Race Week. Argh.
Aw, that’s absolutely adorable. I wish my little crew liked the beach. They’re both very strange about water and noise and birds. I can’t imagine either of them napping oceanside!

A lot of dogs find the noise and movement of the surf intimidating. I can only imagine how scary it would be if you’re only a few inches off the ground.
Honey doesn’t always like the surf herself. Sometimes she wades in, other times she ignores it like the plague.
But she always feels up to a sand nap. 🙂
Three words: On the couch! It is the only place to sleep around here.
I’m guessing you don’t have any little loveseats around your house, eh? 🙂
That image of Honey is just as beautiful as a beach sunset. I like the little bit of sand on her nose too. Haley’s favorite sleeping spot is anywhere next to me, haha!
I hope you guys are back in Florida next spring during Global Pet Expo. We’ll definitely stop by and say hello!
I’ve got to get a calendar to figure out all the cool events so we can end up in the right place at the right time. When you only travel 7 miles an hour, it takes a while to get anywhere. 🙂
