  7. both of us….Dakota is an “equal opportunity lover”

That’s too funny — my stepson’s stepfather uses the exact same phrase “equal opportunity lover” to describe their Golden Retriever, Georgie (who is my Callie’s great uncle).

  8. Sue at The Golden Life says:

Callie and Shadow both love the two of us and each other equally. Ducky loves the two of us equally, and Callie; but she’s still testy with Shadow…some days she’s fine, other days she has to have “timeouts” at least every hour. Go figure!

  9. Awe!!! It sure does look like love. ❤

  10. That is a sweet photo!

  11. Such an adoring face. I love it!

  12. Julie Blackwelder says:

While my mother was dying in hospice, I went to Florida for almost a month. I left my dogs (3), cats (2), and a few board dogs with a wonderful woman, Tina, who agreed to “house sit” with all of them. During that time Earl came to board for a couple of weeks.

Earl is a rescue, 14 years old, half basset hound and half blue heeler. Both breeds are strongly in evidence. The hound is in his bark, the thick, short basset legs, and feet, and the slow constant wag of his happy tail. The heeler’s coat, and the black and white speckles are everywhere, except one ear and that side of his head, which decided to lay claim to the black and tan hound colors. His mom is a wonderful client, adoring pet owner, and just all around nice person, who has made sure that Earl is healthy, happy, and welcomed every where he goes. But, she readily admits that Earl picks certain human friends to be his favorites.

During the time I was gone, Earl bonded with the house sitter, Tina, and she totally replaced me near the top of his list of favorite people. That look of pure adoration, just like that one in the picture of the Golden, graces Earl’s face every time he looks at Tina. When he comes to board, I call Tina and she comes for a visit. Earl is so excited to see her that he bawls a few good hound yodeling barks, then sits next to her chair, that gaze of adoration never leaving his face as she rubs his head and ears. It makes my day that she cares enough to give him the time and make that old dog so happy just by her presence.
