Keep Your Boat Light…

Honey the golden retriever with words of wisdom from Jerome K. Jerome.

Let’s see the rest of the quote:

Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need—a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a pipe, or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing.”

It’s from Three Men In A Boat (To Say Nothing Of The Dog) Jerome K. Jerome.

This 19th century classic is gut-bustingly funny. But I love its words to live by (except I’d probably leave out the pipe). How about you?

You can download Three Men In A Boat for your e-reader for free at Project Gutenberg. You’ll find the film adaptation starring Tim Curry and Michael Palin on YouTube.

  3. We aren’t ready to pare down that much yet. We are still in the large space with stuff after ten years of living small in Germany, but one day we will switch back.

  6. Love the quote. We all might be more satisfied and maybe even happier with less.
