Find the Puppy – Wordless Wednesday

I look for puppies everywhere.

Honey the golden retriever passes the Ithaca light house in a kayak.

You’re not going to find any puppies near the lighthouses. I’m the only one out here.

But I was surprised to find this one.

Kayaker with a dog passing a lighthouse in Cayuga Lake.

Why are you looking for puppies out here? You got me.

Did you spot it?

No, not Honey.

Look again.

Pug graffiti on Cayuga Lake lighthouse.

That smooshy faced thing isn’t nearly as cute as I am.

Extra credit if you recognize his little Japanese friend.

Japanese wood sprite graffiti on a lighthouse.

Would you call that an anime puppy?

Your Turn: Where’s the most unexpected place you ever found a puppy?

I had to enlarge the pictures a few times to see the puppy — my eyes aren’t what they used to be, what can I say? Happy Wordless Wednesday! :-)

  10. I have no idea who it is but very cool to spot a dog on your paddle!

  11. Well I certainly never saw one on the side of a lighthouse before! I have seen them being carried in baskets in some strange places though.

  12. have never thought about it before but you can bet on the fact that I sure will be looking!

  13. What a great find! :)

  14. I couldn’t magnify the pictures and my eye sight couldn’t really see the details.

  15. Funny. I did notice the puppy drawing before you highlighted it. I’m always looking for puppies too. Strangest place I ever saw one was in the church at the San Xavier del Bac Mission outside Tucson.

    • Oh… no, wait. Just thought of a WAY weirder place. Before 9/11 and the travel security crack down – we saw a guy get a beagle out of the OVERHEAD BIN! He had it drugged up and stuffed up there in a soft-sided bag. When we landed he got it out, and unzipped the side to reveal a mesh panel and we saw the doped up beagle in there sleeping! Crazy!

  16. Greetings from the airport! Waiting to board the plane.

Honey is so calm in that little row boat. Impressive. So are you. I would be staying as still as possible 😉 Love Japanese anime and manga! X

  17. Honey. You’re right–you are the cutest!

  18. Very cool artwork! I love a good find!

Most unusual place to spot a puppy? Hmmm… I’m drawing a total blank!

  19. The Japanese friend is one of the little tree guys from Princess Mononoke, though I forget what they’re called.

  20. Too funny! Didn’t know who the little guy was until I read it in the comments.

  21. Good eyes! Most unexpected? Puppy Henry with his head stuck in the metal baby gate. :( We had to dismantle the panel from the rest and take him with head still between bars to vets. The lubed him up and were able to pull him out. They still call him “The One”. As in “he’s The One who…”

  22. You find blog posts out of the most amazing things, I need to open my eyes! I can’t think of any strange places I found a puppy off the top of my head. One of Frankie’s nicknames is Caspar because he’s a bit of a ghost in the sand dunes. One second he’s behind me and without seeing him again he pops up in front of me, I don’t know how he does it.
