Countdown to Something Swagging This Way Comes 2012!

BlogPaws 2011 Swag

From last year's bag o'swag. What do you think will be in it this year?

I have a really fun game planned for my BlogPaws swag giveaway this year. And to make it extra special, I’m asking you to help me create the game board while getting a little link love and having a chance to win some great pet swag. Sound fun? Then read on.

Meet Your Match

After I’ve returned from BlogPaws and caught my breath, I’m going to post baby pictures. No, not mine. Yours.

We’ll match the pet picture (baby picture if you have one) to the baby picture of our favorite bloggers (or microblogger for people who post on Twitter and Facebook). I’ll include links where you can find the adult pictures to search for clues to help you make the match.

The person who makes the most correct matches wins.

Anyone can play. But people who send pictures in will get a small edge since they’ll get at least one correct entry by matching their own picture to their pet’s.

But I need help. I need at least some of you to send your pictures so I can set up the game board.

Who’s Matching the Matchers

To contribute your pictures to the game, you must have a current picture of yourself somewhere on your blog, Twitter, or Facebook  account by the start of the game. Then I need you to send me the following:

  • Your name (or online alias)
  • A picture of you at younger than six years old
  • A picture of your pet who appears on your blog, Twitter profile, or Facebook page (a baby picture if you have one).
  • A link to your blog, Twitter profile, or Facebook page where contestants can find the pictures to give them clues for matching your baby picture to your pet’s baby picture (or adult picture if they came to live with you as a grown up).

Send the above to me at SomethingWagging(at)gmail(dot)com—substitute @ for (at) and . for (dot)—with the subject line: “match game.”

I must have your pictures and information by midnight Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, June 26.

Pam and Honey Set an Example

Don’t quite get how this will work? I’ll show you.

A lady always carries a purse.

Golden Retriever Puppy

Look, I'm camouflaged.

And, finally, here’s the link where you’ll find an adult picture of me and Honey.

Even if our pictures were surrounded by a dozen others, you’d probably find it pretty easy to match us together. I don’t want to make it too difficult so feel free to keep historical context in your pictures like I did (it’s obvious pretty quickly that I’m older than my 20s based on the cars in the background) or leave clues when you save the name for your picture. We want to have fun but don’t want to make anyone’s brain hurt.

What Are You Waiting For?

Send your pictures in today for a chance to win a big bag o’swag that will include treats, toys, chewies and more.

And please spread the news far and wide. The more people who join in the more fun we’ll have.

500th Post Scavenger Hunt Winner

And before we start on our next fun contest, I need to congratulate Rumpy T. Drummond of the fabulous blog, RumpyDog.com. Rumpy won the $25 Amazon gift card.

Just a tip, Rumpy, you might want to hurry up and spend that gift card before Jen, June Buggie, or anyone else in the family gets their hands on it.

So will you be sending in a picture for the game? Or if you blog with “a paper bag over your head” in the words of the witty Georgia Little Pea, will you be stopping by to guess?

  1. This sounds like so much fun Pamela!! You and Kristine have the best ideas for contests!! I hope to have some time to look through pictures this weekend.

Great job and btw, how did those floors turn out?

    • I can’t wait to see your picture, Jodi. It’s amazing how little most of us change over the years.

The floors look awesome. I’m kinda hating to cover them up with furniture again. 😉

  2. Oh my this sounds like fun. I will scrounge up the photos and send them to you soon!
Your little girl picture is so adorable!

    • Loved getting your pictures, Peggy. Thanks for starting off the party. I can’t wait to show them off to the contestants.

And I know I had an advantage but I think I would have known you anywhere. :)

  3. My head is not on tonight. I’ve read your instructions and am still a little blur. Not your fault. Probably because it’s golly! past ONE a.m! I wont be sending in a picture (mainly because there are none of me on the blog unless you count a foot, a mouth and some hair)… But I will be playing!

BTW, I love that picture of you! You still look like you :) I remember cars like that from when I was young too. They were the best! I didn’t have a handbag though (and still don’t).

    • I often worry that all my best ideas end up being too complicated. I hope that in the light of day it reads a little more clearly.

Of course, if you really wanted to share a picture of your foot as an adult and your foot as a child, that might be fun too. I did note in my instructions that you are welcome to use your internet alias. Think it over. :)

  4. OK, this is freakin awesomesauce times twelve! sadly, i have no baby pix of desmond but i think i can still play, right?

  5. I love this idea and I am definitely in! I have already contacted the parentals but may have to nudge them a little. If I have till the 26th, that should be plenty of time for my mom to figure out how to work the scanner. 😉

    • Wouldn’t it be easier to have your mom send you the pictures and you figure out how to work the scanner? :)

Looking forward to seeing your pictures. Tell your mom there’s big swag on the line so she’d better not let you down.

  6. I’m in! Thank goodness one of my sisters scanned a bunch of old pictures a while back. I can’t wait to see how this game turns out.

  7. If I can get one of my childhood pictures scanned, I’ll play! Although it’s occurred to me that my FB profile picture has me and a certain famous hound on it together. I guess I’d have to switch it?

    • Once again, I don’t think it’s a problem for some of the matches to be pretty easy. I found my Honey’s Holiday contest last year was considered pretty hard by many. This time I’m trying to keep things fun and uncompetitive. I think folks will just enjoy seeing the baby pictures.

Looking forward to seeing your picture soon.

  8. First of all – that picture of you is ADORABLE . .love the hat, the coat, the shoes AND the purse (my grandparents bought me a purse every year and filled it with coins . . I loved it!) I can’t wait to see all of the pictures . .What fun!! I’ll get mine to you soon!

  9. This sounds like a hoot! Great idea :)

  10. You really have a fabulous imagination. This is a wonderful idea and I think we’ll be participating. (I did finally find a picture of me as an adult on the blog although there’s plenty of video…) Bella, of course, will be pretty easy to identify but I’m hoping that putting her with me might be tougher.

I really can’t wait to try my hand at matching people and their pups though. That should be very entertaining. :)

(Oh, and can I just say how much I LOVE the name of this contest?! Ha!)

  11. What a creative idea for a contest! I’ll send mine in and look forward to your session and blogpaws.

  12. Hmm, I’ll play the guessing part of the game and I’d even send you a young/old photo of me for fun … if I knew where to start looking for some. Having recently shifted there are unessential things that I have no idea where they are, lol. Love the photo of you, very stylish even then:) Looking forward to the contest!
